64GB DDR5 RAM: 2x32GB kits for editing, VMs and heavy workloads

64GB of DDR5 is for a new AM5 or Intel build where the work, not the games, sets the memory size: 4K and 8K video timelines, several virtual machines, large CAD or GIS models, compiling big codebases, or local data and machine-learning work on the CPU. The 113 64GB DDR5 kits and modules above are ranked by price per gigabyte, from £10.75/GB to £63.60/GB (median £17.24/GB); the cheapest right now is ByteFest DDR5 RAM 64GB Kit (2x 32GB) 5200MHz SODIMM PC5-41600 CL42 1.1… at £688.00.

2x32GB, not 4x16GB

On DDR5 the layout matters more than the speed rating. 2x32GB is the kit to buy: two dual-rank sticks, one per channel, with two slots left empty. Filling all four slots on a current consumer board puts two modules on each channel, and both AMD and Intel rate that configuration well below the two-stick speed. A 4x16GB setup may train at its rated speed or may not, and getting four sticks stable at 6000MT/s is not guaranteed on any board. If you already own 2x16GB, replacing it with 2x32GB is usually the better route to 64GB than adding a second pair.

  • Speed: 2x32GB at 6000MT/s CL30 to CL32 is the AM5 target; 5600 is the safe choice if stability matters more than the last few percent. On Intel, 5600 to 6400 with XMP. Speeds here run from 4,800 to 6,400MT/s.
  • Training time: the first boot after fitting 64GB on AM5 can take several minutes while the board trains the memory. That is normal.
  • Laptops: two-slot DDR5 laptops reach 64GB with 2x32GB SO-DIMMs at 4800 or 5600MT/s, where the manufacturer lists 64GB as supported.

48GB and 96GB: the non-binary alternatives

DDR5 introduced 24GB and 48GB modules. A 2x24GB (48GB) kit is the cheaper option if 32GB is too little but 64GB is more than your work needs, and a 2x48GB (96GB) kit gives more headroom while still using only two slots. Both are often priced close to 2x32GB per gigabyte, so compare them against this page before buying; check your board supports them, which almost all AM5 and Intel 700 and 800-series boards do with a current BIOS.

Reading the table

This page also lists single 64GB DDR5 RDIMMs for Xeon and EPYC servers. They will not work in a desktop board; the Buffered and ECC columns show which listings they are, and the server page and ECC RAM page collect them. Every desktop DDR5 module has on-die ECC, which is not the same as full ECC. Prices at the larger capacities rose steeply through 2026 because 32GB modules use the densest dies, so check the price history on the product page before trusting a discount. If your workload fits comfortably in less, the 32GB DDR5 page is far cheaper per kit; if you are staying on AM4, compare 64GB DDR4. Our how much RAM guide covers where 64GB is genuinely needed. All 64GB memory: 64GB; every DDR5 kit: DDR5; the next size up: 128GB.

Frequently asked questions

Why buy 2x32GB DDR5 instead of 4x16GB?

Four DDR5 sticks put two modules on each channel, and AMD and Intel both rate that well below the two-stick speed. A 4x16GB setup may not run at its rated speed or may be unstable when it does. A 2x32GB kit runs at full speed in two slots and leaves the other two free.

Is 48GB or 96GB DDR5 a better buy than 64GB?

It can be. DDR5 introduced 24GB and 48GB modules, so 2x24GB (48GB) suits anyone who has outgrown 32GB but does not need 64GB, and 2x48GB (96GB) gives more headroom in two slots. Both are often close to 2x32GB in price per gigabyte. Almost all AM5 and recent Intel boards support them with a current BIOS.

What is the cheapest 64GB DDR5 right now?

The table on this page is sorted by price per gigabyte, so the best-value kit is always at the top. Today the cheapest 64GB DDR5 kit works out at £10.75 per GB. Prices come from Amazon.co.uk and are refreshed daily; open any kit to see its full price history before you buy.

Why rank 64GB DDR5 by price per GB instead of price?

A 32GB kit at £60 is better value than a 16GB kit at £35 even though it costs more. Dividing the price by the total capacity of the kit puts every size and brand on the same scale, which is the only fair way to compare a 2x8GB kit against a single 32GB stick. See price per gigabyte explained.

How do I know a 64GB DDR5 deal is genuine?

Every product page shows the price today against its 30, 90 and 180-day averages and its lowest recorded price. Memory prices rose sharply through 2026, so a kit can look discounted against last month while still being above its typical price for the year; the history graph shows which it is.
