Samsung RAM: OEM modules, server memory and the chips inside everyone else's kits

Samsung is the world's largest DRAM manufacturer, but it does not sell a gaming memory range in the UK. What you find on this page are its OEM and server modules: the plain green sticks that ship inside Dell, HP and Lenovo machines, ECC and registered DIMMs for servers, and SO-DIMMs for laptops, sold new and as pulls from the second-hand market. The 56 Samsung modules above are ranked by price per gigabyte, from £2.47/GB to £25.08/GB (median £7.89/GB); the cheapest right now is Samsung M393A4K40BB2-CTD6Q Memory Module 32 GB DDR4 2666 MHz 288-Pin D… at £79.00.

Reading a Samsung part number

Samsung listings are usually titled by part number rather than a marketing name, and the number tells you everything. The prefix gives the type: M378 is a desktop UDIMM, M471 a laptop SO-DIMM, M391 an ECC UDIMM, M393 a registered RDIMM and M386 an LRDIMM; DDR5 parts start M323 (UDIMM), M425 (SO-DIMM) and M321 (RDIMM). The middle section encodes capacity and rank, and the suffix the speed: CTD is DDR4-2666, CWE is DDR4-3200, and DDR5 parts state 4800 or 5600 directly. The generation and speed columns on this page are derived from those codes, and the Buffered and ECC columns separate the desktop parts from the server modules, which will not work in a consumer board.

Why buy Samsung modules

  • Exact-match upgrades. If your prebuilt PC or laptop shipped with a Samsung module, adding the identical part number is the surest way to get a stable dual-channel pair.
  • Servers and workstations. Samsung RDIMMs are what most Dell, HPE and Supermicro systems were built with, and used 16GB and 32GB DDR4-2666 or 3200 RDIMMs are among the cheapest memory per gigabyte anywhere on the site.
  • JEDEC-speed simplicity. These modules run at their rated speed with no XMP profile, which is what you want in a laptop or an office machine. They are not the choice for an overclocked gaming build; for that, the Corsair, G.Skill and TeamGroup pages carry the kits built around Samsung's B-die and newer chips.

Because most Samsung stock here is OEM or pulled, listings come from many sellers at very different prices for the same part; the £/GB ranking is doing real work on this page, and the review count and seller are worth checking. Match the form factor first (DIMM or SO-DIMM), then the generation (DDR4 or DDR5), then the speed to whatever is already fitted. Samsung was also the first to shift DDR5 output toward data-centre and AI memory in 2026, which is a large part of why every brand's prices rose; the price history on each product page shows where a given module sits against that trend.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Samsung not sell gaming RAM?

Samsung sells DRAM chips to every module maker and sells its own modules mainly to PC manufacturers and server builders. What appears at retail is OEM and server stock rather than a consumer gaming range; kits from Corsair, G.Skill and others are frequently built on Samsung chips.

How do I read a Samsung memory part number?

The prefix gives the type: M378 desktop UDIMM, M471 laptop SO-DIMM, M391 ECC UDIMM, M393 RDIMM, M386 LRDIMM; DDR5 parts begin M323, M425 and M321. The suffix encodes speed, for example CTD for DDR4-2666 and CWE for DDR4-3200. Match the full number to the module already fitted for a guaranteed pair.

What is the cheapest Samsung RAM right now?

The table on this page is sorted by price per gigabyte, so the best-value kit is always at the top. Today the cheapest Samsung RAM kit works out at £2.47 per GB. Prices come from Amazon.co.uk and are refreshed daily; open any kit to see its full price history before you buy.

Why rank Samsung RAM by price per GB instead of price?

A 32GB kit at £60 is better value than a 16GB kit at £35 even though it costs more. Dividing the price by the total capacity of the kit puts every size and brand on the same scale, which is the only fair way to compare a 2x8GB kit against a single 32GB stick. See price per gigabyte explained.

How do I know a Samsung RAM deal is genuine?

Every product page shows the price today against its 30, 90 and 180-day averages and its lowest recorded price. Memory prices rose sharply through 2026, so a kit can look discounted against last month while still being above its typical price for the year; the history graph shows which it is.
