The ramprices.uk RAM price index tracks what a gigabyte of memory costs on Amazon.co.uk: the median New price per gigabyte across every kit we follow, by generation and by kit size, today against 90 days and a year ago. Updated 11 September 2026 from 1,252 kits (952 with a full year of history). Medians, not averages, so a few absurd listings cannot move it.

The same index for the standard kit sizes. Larger kits use the densest chips, which is where the supply squeeze bit first, so the sizes do not move together.

How the index is built

Source. Amazon.co.uk New-condition prices for every RAM kit in the ramprices.uk catalogue, with history from Keepa. Warehouse and used offers are excluded from the index (they are tracked separately for the deal alerts).
Per kit. The price in force on the date in question, divided by the kit's total capacity in gigabytes. A 2x16GB kit is 32GB.
Per group. The median of those £/GB figures across all kits in the generation or size bucket. A kit with no price on a date (no New offer, or not yet listed) is left out of that date's median rather than guessed.
Why medians. A mean is dragged up by a handful of listings at silly prices, and RAM listings spike often. The median describes what a typical kit cost.
Refresh. Recomputed every night. The number of kits with a full year of history grows as the catalogue ages, so year-on-year figures firm up over time.
