G.Skill RAM: Trident Z, Ripjaws and Flare X
G.Skill built its reputation on overclocking records and on memory that hits its rated speed with the fewest surprises, and it remains the enthusiast's default choice. The 226 G.Skill kits above are ranked by price per gigabyte, from £3.49/GB to £63.60/GB (median £19.83/GB), with the cheapest kit right now being G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1600MHz Dual Ch… at £27.95. Speeds on this page run from 666 to 8,200MHz, which is a wider spread than most brands because G.Skill sells both budget and extreme kits.
The G.Skill ranges
- Ripjaws V (DDR4) and Ripjaws S5 (DDR5): the value lines, low profile, no RGB, at 3200 to 3600 (DDR4) and 5600 to 6400 (DDR5). Usually the cheapest G.Skill on the page and the one to compare with Corsair Vengeance LPX and Kingston FURY Beast.
- Flare X5 and Flare X: AMD-tuned kits with EXPO profiles, the standard recommendation for AM5 at 6000MT/s CL30 and for AM4 at 3200 or 3600.
- Trident Z5 (RGB, Neo, Royal): the premium DDR5 tier with the tall heatspreader, the fastest bins (7200MT/s and above) and the lowest latencies (CL28 to CL30). Trident Z Neo is the AM4 DDR4 equivalent.
- Aegis: the budget DDR4 line for office and prebuilt upgrades.
- Ripjaws SO-DIMM: laptop modules on the laptop page.
What to buy and what to check
For AM5 the Flare X5 or Trident Z5 Neo 2x16GB at 6000 CL30 is the reference kit many motherboard makers validate against, and it is often what the 32GB page shows as the best £/GB among DDR5 kits with a matching EXPO profile. For Intel, Trident Z5 RGB or Ripjaws S5 at 6000 to 6400 with XMP 3.0. For DDR4, Ripjaws V 3200 CL16 or 3600 CL16 is the classic value buy and Trident Z Neo the Ryzen tuning option.
Two practical notes. Trident Z5 and Trident Z Royal kits are tall: measure the clearance under a big air cooler before buying, or choose Ripjaws or Flare. And G.Skill's fastest kits (7200MT/s and above) need a strong board and CPU memory controller to run at spec; on a mid-range board they will fall back to a lower profile, at which point a cheaper 6000 kit would have done the same job. The price per GB gap between the value and extreme lines is the largest of any brand here, so decide what speed your platform can genuinely use before sorting. Compare against Corsair, Kingston and TeamGroup at the same spec, and open the product page for the price history: G.Skill DDR5 rose steeply through 2026 in line with the whole market.
Frequently asked questions
Which G.Skill kit is best for AMD Ryzen?
Flare X5 or Trident Z5 Neo at 6000MT/s CL30 with an EXPO profile for AM5; Flare X or Trident Z Neo at 3200 or 3600 for AM4. These are the kits many motherboard makers validate against.
Will a G.Skill Trident Z5 kit fit under my CPU cooler?
Trident Z5 and Trident Z Royal are tall modules and can collide with large air coolers on the slots nearest the CPU. Check the cooler's stated RAM clearance, or choose the low-profile Ripjaws S5 or Flare X5 lines, which perform the same at the same spec.
What is the cheapest G.Skill RAM right now?
The table on this page is sorted by price per gigabyte, so the best-value kit is always at the top. Today the cheapest G.Skill RAM kit works out at £3.49 per GB. Prices come from Amazon.co.uk and are refreshed daily; open any kit to see its full price history before you buy.
Why rank G.Skill RAM by price per GB instead of price?
A 32GB kit at £60 is better value than a 16GB kit at £35 even though it costs more. Dividing the price by the total capacity of the kit puts every size and brand on the same scale, which is the only fair way to compare a 2x8GB kit against a single 32GB stick. See price per gigabyte explained.
How do I know a G.Skill RAM deal is genuine?
Every product page shows the price today against its 30, 90 and 180-day averages and its lowest recorded price. Memory prices rose sharply through 2026, so a kit can look discounted against last month while still being above its typical price for the year; the history graph shows which it is.
