Sticker price is the wrong number for memory. A 32GB kit at £60 costs more than a 16GB kit at £35 but gives you twice the memory for 71 percent more money, and per gigabyte it is the better deal. Every table on ramprices.uk is sorted by price divided by total kit capacity, so the best value is always at the top. Across the 4,631 kits we track today that figure runs from £1.07 to a median of £7.48 per gigabyte.
£/GB is the kit's current Amazon.co.uk price divided by its total capacity in gigabytes. Total means total: a "16GB (2x8GB)" kit is 16GB, not 8GB. That sounds obvious, but listing titles are written in several styles ("2x8GB", "8GB x2", "Kit of 2 8GB", "16GB Kit") and getting the total right is most of the work of building a site like this. Once every kit is on the same scale, a single 32GB stick, a 2x16GB kit and a 4x8GB kit can be compared directly, and so can a Corsair kit against a Crucial one.
Two examples from the sort of prices on the site: a 2x8GB DDR4 kit at £36 is £2.25/GB; a 2x16GB DDR4 kit at £62 is £1.94/GB, so the larger kit is cheaper per gigabyte as well as giving more headroom. A 2x16GB DDR5-6000 kit at £110 is £3.44/GB; a 2x24GB DDR5 kit at £150 is £3.13/GB, which is why the non-binary DDR5 sizes often top the 32GB and 64GB comparisons.
Module makers pay for a printed circuit board, a heatspreader, testing and packaging per kit, not per gigabyte, so those fixed costs are spread thinner on a larger kit. Denser chips also cost less per gigabyte to make until you reach the newest, largest die, where the price jumps because the parts are scarce. That produces the usual shape: 8GB expensive per gigabyte, 16GB better, 32GB best, 64GB about level with 32GB, 128GB expensive again. The 8GB to 128GB pages show the curve on live prices, and it moves; through 2026 the largest sizes rose most because their dies are the ones AI accelerators compete for (see why prices rose).
Prices come from Keepa's tracking of Amazon.co.uk and are refreshed daily, with the New price (Amazon or a third-party seller in new condition) as the basis for £/GB. Capacity, kit count, generation, form factor, speed, ECC and platform are parsed from each listing's title, feature bullets and description, and kits that cannot be parsed to a total capacity are left out rather than guessed. Ratings and review counts come from the same source. Rankings are never influenced by commission; the site is funded by Amazon affiliate links, which is set out on the disclosure page, and every kit is placed purely by £/GB and its price history.
Decide the capacity you need, filter to the generation and form factor your machine takes, then buy from the top of the ranking after a look at the price history. If two kits are within a few pence per gigabyte, the tie-breakers are dual-channel layout, a low-profile heatspreader if your CPU cooler is large, a higher review count, and a speed at the platform's sweet spot (DDR4-3200 CL16, DDR5-6000 CL30). That is the whole method, and it is what this site exists to make quick.
